Missions
Jesus said: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” John 13:35
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20
Every Christian should be involved in God’s Mission through Missions. From the way we live our lives and interact with others to the supporting of missionaries, Jesus tells us that we will be known by our love. We support missions through praying, through giving, through doing, and by going.
Double Springs Church addresses missions on several levels. On a personal level, we seek to be the hands, feet, and mouth of Jesus as we extend the love of Jesus through word and deed to whomever we meet. On the local level, we minister to the needs of our members and to those in the community through Baskets of Love and the Brotherhood. Also locally, we support the ministries of the Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association, the South Mountain Baptist Camp and Hands-On Missions.
On the state level, we support the ministries of the Baptist State Convention of NC. Double Springs has sent volunteers to work with Baptists On Mission, the missions arm of the Baptist State Convention of NC that provides assistance during disaster situations.
On the national level, we support ministries through the Southern Baptist Convention Cooperative Program. We financially support missions in America to establish churches, and internationally to spread the gospel by missionaries around the world. We encourage church members to volunteer to go on mission trips both inside and outside of our country.
We are very active in the Operation Christmas Child ministry by Samaritan’s Purse and we financially support the Mora family, who are missionaries in Honduras.
